Cenni storici e sul territorio:

Sutera, a rural village in the province of Caltanissetta, is located at about 600 meters above sea level and its medieval center consists of the three quarters Rabato, Rabatello and Giardinello that are nestled against the slopes of Monte San Paolino (820 m), a rugged limestone mountain with pointed cliffs and spontaneous vegetation that is hosting the eponymous Sanctuary. Sutera is member of the renowned Club of Italy’s most beautiful villages, thanks to its Arabic quarter Rabato with its characteristic and evocative houses clustered along narrow, winding streets, courtyards and steep stairs. Sutera’s Living Nativity Scene, one of the most captivating Sicilian Christmas traditions, is held each year during the first week of January.
