Cenni storici e sul territorio:
Santa Cristina Gela (Arbëresh: Sëndahstina) is a small municipality in the province of Palermo. Together with Contessa Entellina and Piana degli Albanesi it is one of the ethnic Albanian communities in Sicily where the ancient Albanian language Arbërishtja is still spoken. The inhabitants of the village are Arbëreshe, Albanians of Italy, a bilingual and biconfessional community with a dual cultural identity. Over the course of more than a century, they preserved the Greek-Orthodox rites and the traditions of their Albanian ancestors.
