Cenni storici e sul territorio:
Piana degli Albanesi (Arbëresh: Hora e Arbëreshëvet) is a municipality in the province of Palermo and one of the most important and most populous Italo-Albanian communities in Sicily. Until 1941 the Arbëresh colony with its well-preserved traditions was called Piana dei Greci, because its inhabitants follow the Greek-Orthodox rite. The town is the episcopal see of the Eparchy.
Over the centuries, Piana degli Albanesi ranked among the most active and most influential Albanian communities in Italy, preserving and maintaining the traditions and historical memory of their ancient homeland.
